N17 SOLIDARITY ACTIONS IN NEW ORLEANS

From a comrade:

Hello Folks,

Tomorrow is our big day of action–it’s going on ALL DAAYY so there’s really not much of an excuse not to show up to something! Here’s the schedule:
11am–City Council Action–We will mic-check the city council meeting to protest their persistent refusal to provide housing for those who need it and their systematic destruction of public housing options. Join us!
12pm–Outside of City Hall–Occupy NOLA stands in solidarity with Communities United for Change who will be picketing City Hall against  police brutality
2:30pm–Pre-March Rally featuring speakers and sign making
4:00pm–March Leaves from Duncan to go through downtown. Specific issues highlighted:
Save the Post Office! Save McDonogh No.11 Public School! Stop Police Brutality! Stop Charter schools from destroying communities! Quit funding cuts to health care! Build and rehab homes for the homeless! Stop the wars abroad!
**Bonus** 5:30pm–Action at John McDonogh High school on Esplanade to protest:
  • DISRESPECT IN THE COMMUNITY.
  • FAKE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT.
  • SCHOOL TAKEOVERS WITHOUT PARENTAL OR
  • COMMUNITY INPUT.
  • EXPERIMENTAL IMPLEMENTATIONS PLANNED FOR OUR CHILDREN.
  • RSD CONTINUOUSLY ENCOURAGES OUTSIDE CHARTER OPERATORS TO SUBMIT CHARTERS THAT CONTROL
  • LOCAL SCHOOLS, AND IGNORE LOCAL COMMUNITY GROUPS.
6:00pm–Post march rally/celebration at Duncan featuring speakers such as: Sharon Jasper, Sam Jackson, Avondale organizers and many others.

Come on out and make some ruckus!
See you in the streets!
